Mission & Outreach
UMCOR is the official relief and response arm of the United Methodist Church. UMCOR is responsible for the emergency, hunger, poverty, and refugee ministries of the church. First UMC ministries to UMCOR include:
In some countries, children don't have books or school supplies. Many have no schoolrooms; classes are held in inadequate or half-destroyed buildings, tents, or even the open air. ► One Great Hour of Sharing The first Sunday of every month is your opportunity to contribute to First Church’s continuing commitment to Father Bob’s Food Shelf, Grace Episcopal Church’s outreach providing emergency food to people referred by the Macomb County Food Program. Non-perishable items are collected in the grocery basket at the East Door. Cereal, rice and other boxed foods, canned foods such as fruit and vegetables, and donations of money are accepted (any checks should be made out to our church with “Father Bob” designated in the memo line).
For years, First United Methodist Church has faithfully provided volunteers to serve a noon meal at the Mount Clemens Salvation Army on the first and second Wednesday of each month. We need some new volunteers to add to our teams of faithful cooks. If you can help, please contact us by clicking HERE

► Environmental Care Organization (ECO Committee)
Our mission is to encourage awareness about environmental injustices, take steps to improve environmental sustainability, and become better stewards of the earth. We collect and deliver items to a recycling center, and also sell Fair Trade products to help support Third World farmers and co-ops. Coffee and tea is sold on first Sundays during Sunday Fellowship Hour and may also be ordered by contacting the Church Office.
