We meet in November and April to make pasties. It usually takes 3 days to do this. The first night we cut the vegetables and the next day we make the pasties. The focus of this group is to raise money for the church by selling the pasties. Making pasties includes cutting vegetables, mixing, rolling dough, adding filling, baking, wrapping pasties and freezing. We have lunch and are always looking for someone to do this for about 35 people on Wednesday and Thursday. Part of our ministry is also to provide one meal for the Warming Center. All are welcome to come join in the fun and fellowship!! Contact Sue Tregembo if you would like more information.
Community Meals (hot meals for those in need and homeless) are served at First United Methodist every Sunday during the months of April through October. Various organizations in the Community (Kiwanis, Churches, etc.) along with First Church groups (book club, quilters, Bible study) purchase, cook, and serve food to the guest from 1:00-2:30 pm. Anyone is welcome to help!! Contact the Church office more information.
The FUMC Prayer Quilters meet every Tuesday in the Muli-Purpose Room from 10:30-3:30pm. Quilts are created for Turning Point (Macomb’s Women’s Shelter), baptisms, ill church members, etc. We also create items for the Church, for special programs and for sale. Sewing skills are not needed. Volunteers can help layer quilts, iron material and cut material. All are welcome to join us!! Bring your lunch and see what you may like to do.
