Rev. Tom Hoffmeyer, Pastor
ext. #22 pastortom@mountclemensumc.orgPastor Tom loves serving as the lead pastor at First UMC. He loves the congregation and its passion for God and serving the community. Pastor Tom arrived at First UMC in July 2025 after serving multiple congregations in Indiana and Michigan before moving to Mount Clemens.
Pastor Tom believes that God’s love changes us and changes the world. His passion for ministry comes from this truth; he wants all to know they belong to God. He also believes in God’s call for a more just world through acts of compassion that answer Jesus’ call to make it here on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Pastor Tom is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. He holds an undergraduate degree in history and political science from Indiana University and has his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary.
Pastor Tom is the proud husband of Lenore and dad to Nate and Lydia. Pastor Tom enjoys adventuring with his family, hiking, listening to music, and reading when not at church.
Rev. Alicea Williams, Deacon
ext. #32 alwharpist30@gmail.comRev. Alicea has served First UMC since 2017 as the Minister to Children and Youth. Her passion for ministry is sharing God’s love with children and helping them to grow their faith. Before coming to First UMC, Rev. Alicea served congregations in Michigan and Frankfurt, Germany.
Rev. Alicea believes in the power of the saving grace of Jesus Christ and how that grace transforms lives including the lives of children. She believes in creating safe spaces for children and youth to explore their faith knowing they are children of God and loved by God no matter what.
In addition to serving First UMC, Rev. Alicea has served as the Chairperson for the Greater Detroit District Leadership Team and is currently serving on the District Committee on Ministry. Her passion for children and youth ministry led her to Lake Louise Christian Community where she has served as a Dean for Middle School Camp since 2009 and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Lake Louise.
Rev. Alicea is a graduate of Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL with a Masters of Arts degree in Christian Education. She received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Louisiana State University. She enjoys traveling, baking, cooking, singing, playing her harp, and playing with the Classical Bells Handbell Ensemble. A native of Alabama, Rev. Alicea has lived in Michigan since 1990 when she married her husband, Chris. Together they have one son, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and one beloved Bichon.

Duncan McMillian, Church Musician
Duncan Williamson McMillan began studying piano at age 5. His musical studies continued with Frederic Dehaven at Christ Church in Grosse Pointe, singing in the boys choir (1980-1987). From 1989-1992, Duncan studied jazz piano and music theory with James Hohmeyer, Bess Bonnier and Matt Michaels.
Upon graduation from Western Michigan University in 1997 (B.M. piano/jazz studies), Duncan has established a reputation as a versatile musician, working with such diverse artists as Paul Keller, Aretha Franklin, Marcus Belgrave, Damon Meader, Perry Hughes, Rodney Whitaker, Eric Marienthal, Nelson Rangell, Chris Standring, Alexander Zonjic, Karen Newman and The Four Freshman. In demand as both a pianist and organist, he regularly performs in the Midwest region with vocalist Vanessa Rubin.
In addition, Mr. McMillan is a respected musical director/arranger for regional theaters, church organizations and local bands. His arrangements have been performed by The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, University of Michigan (Flint) Jazz Ensemble, Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra, Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Jazz Orchestra, Flint Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Bizarre Orchestra, & The Planet D Nonet. He is recently completed student teaching @ Arthurs Middle School (Trenton, MI) and The Detroit School of The Arts, graduating in July 2025 with a post baccalaureate degree in K-12 Choral Music Education from Wayne State University. Duncan is the Elementary Music Teacher (K-8) @ Japhet School (Clawson, MI), and a Professor of Jazz Studies (Piano) @ Hillsdale College.
